Driver Who Plowed Through Crowd Of People, Beat Mom Dead In PA: Reports

A 24-year-old man who killed one person and hurt 17 when he plowed his car into a crowd at a fire benefit and then beat a woman dead with a hammer moments later has been identified by Pennsylvania State Police, they said.

Adrian Oswaldo Sura Reyes, of Nescopeck, Luzerne County, was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge on Sunday, Aug. 14, on two courts of criminal homicide. He was denied bail and remanded to the Columbia County Correctional Facility.

Reyes was behind the wheel of a car that plowed into a crowd of people on West 2nd Street at the Intoxicology Department in Berwick around 6:15 p.m., during a fundraising event being held for the family of the Nescopeck fire, police said.

Troopers and Officers arrived and discovered 17 people hurt and one peson dead.

Shortly thereafter, Pennsylvania State Police Shickshinny received a call that in Nescopeck Borough, where a male was assaulting a woman. Unconfirmed reports say he used a hammer. The woman was found dead. She was identified by the Press Enterprise as his mother.
